The sounds produced by this app are quite beautiful. I was convinced it had become abandonware but a great update appeared about a month ago so it seems to have a future.
This song is from my favourite album by The High Llamas, Beet, Maize & Corn. It’s an album that’s redolent of autumn and melancholia and I think that’s why I had to play it today.

Back to work today. The sun was out but it was cold. Winter is here.
Some more Hipstamatic random snaps from the road.
I’ve decided to give NaBloPoMo (ugh!) a try so here goes.
Music applications, soft synths, and recording software are all so cheap now that just about anyone can get their hands on them. I think I’ve bought every major synth app for the iPad now but I’m under no illusions about calling myself a musician.
I’m a dabbler. I like to make sounds with them but I have no idea about how to write a complete piece of music.
I think dabblers like myself have to remember these facts. A few cheap apps don’t suddenly give you the right to be heard. I see nothing wrong with making sounds purely for your own pleasure. It can be quite blissful.
Just don’t have any expectations about being taken seriously.
Or am I being too harsh?
These drives are on sale right now at a certain large online retailer. I had to buy one.
This is a one terabyte drive and it’s tiny. These things have been available for a while now but the last external drive I bought was one of the bulky ones with much less storage. I’m tempted to get a couple more while they’re still on sale.
Pre-ordering for the new Fierce And The Dead album is now open. If the rest is as good as this preview track it’s going to be very good indeed.

Alex Lifeson is sixty years old today! Here’s a Rush favourite from his younger days.
