Four Adventures of Reinette and Mirabelle, 1987 – ★★★★

Comedy doesn’t get much grimmer.
Directed by Maurice Marable. With Hank Azaria, Tyrel Jackson Williams, Katie Finneran, Becky Ann Baker. Jim faces his dysfunctional family at his father's funeral, he struggles to mend his broken relationship with his sister, and he must make peace with someone from his past.
I loved this episode. Hank Azaria adds so much depth to this quite unpleasant character.
Created by Joel Church-Cooper. With Hank Azaria, Tyrel Jackson Williams, Amanda Peet, Hemky Madera. A famed major league baseball announcer who suffers an embarrassing and very public meltdown live on the air after discovering his beloved wife's serial infidelity decides to reclaim his career and love life in a small town a decade later.
I’m not a big TV viewer but this, Atlanta, and Stan Against Evil are my favourite shows at the moment. UK TV doesn’t have a lot to offer me right now.
Rashomon, 1950 – ★★★★
Dolls
A bit different from Takeshi Kitano’s usual films but I loved this. It’s beautiful and sad and lingers in the mind long after you finish watching it. Recommended.
