My icon stopped appearing in replies and webmentions recently and I couldn’t figure out why. I tried adding hCard code manually to an HTML widget (editing HTML in a WordPress widget is a world of pain) instead of using the IndieWeb widget but it still wouldn’t appear in the hCard validator.
I’ve been messing around with cache settings so I tried turning off Litespeed Cache and the photo appeared again. This wasn’t an ideal solution so I fiddled about with various settings and found out that “Lazy Load Images” was the culprit. It didn’t make a lot of difference anyway so I turned it off and my hCard is working properly again.
I see my web sites now as places where I post all the little things that I would be giving the big social media sites for free. These little things might not be important enough for other folk but they mean things to me or I wouldn’t be posting them in the first place. They are things I want to remember and record. It’s the great thing about personal web sites. They can be whatever you want them to be.
I used to go to a lot of concerts but the older I’ve got the the less I’ve been inclined to make the effort. There are certain favourite bands that I’ll try not to miss but the move to giant edge of city centre event “campuses” makes everything a hassle. I feel uncomfortable in big venues like The Hydro and I’m more inclined to go to a gig if it’s taking place in Glasgow city centre.
There seems to be a renaissance for small venues in Glasgow and I should make the effort to support smaller bands that need it.
My little WD My Passport Ultra external hard drive is full. I use it to back up all my iMac’s files and applications and Time Machine is starting to delete old backups. How many backups do I need to keep? The oldest is from July 2018.
The only thing I would be devastated about losing would be photos and they’re backed up in three different places now.
I have a newer, bigger capacity, version of the My Passport portable drive waiting to be used. It’s a new design and the all-red plastic shell is ugly compared to the old shiny Ultra.
